Welcome to CollegePrep-101!
"I think kids coming into college should know what to expect, considering I had no clue and no one ever told me how hard and stressful it would actually be. It would have been nice to have had a heads up." - Raven, College Freshman

The above quote came from a student in my Freshman Orientation class in the fall of 2010.  It perfectly sums up the reason I created this web site in 1997 (and why I wrote two books and created my other college admission web site also).

Here are links to some of the major parts of this web site, and things I think you'll enjoy seeing.

Since 1996, we’ve helped literally hundreds of thousands of high school students and others through the process of applying to, selecting, transitioning to, and succeeding in college.  Our philosophy is the more information a student has about what to expect when they get to college, the more likely to be successful they’ll be.  Through the content available on this web site, the CollegePrep-101 book (click on “Get the Book ”, above), and our sister web site College Answer Guy , we hope to be the home of all your college preparation needs. Please give us any feedback you have (e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) , consider linking to us, and come back often.

College Corner

CollegePrep-101 encourages students to investigate numerous colleges and universities before making any decisions. In addition, various enrichment opportunities while at college should also be explored.

* Parents: already thinking about your newborn’s post-secondary education? Consider starting a 529 Plan if you’re in the States, and an RESP if you’re in Canada. These tax-free savings plans will help financially prepare your child for their future education.

* If you're looking for help developing the best application essays or personal statements, check out admissionessays.com.   They'll help you put your best foot forward.

* Because of the growth in the importance of the global economy, more and more students are studying abroad.  All students should consider whether an international experience would be an asset to their career.  Those traveling while in college, whether abroad or domestically, should consider medical travel with TravelGuard.com insurance that offers numerous coverage options for trips of all shapes and sizes.

* If you're looking for help finding a particular degree, especially an online degree, Degree.com is a great place to start.

*  My alma mater, Oklahoma State University, has recently moved up in the U.S. News and World Report rankings for it's Career and Technical Education undergraduate degrees (Occupational Education).  Check out the College of Education page for more details.

*  Not your father's Devry University...  devry columbus offers associates, bachelor's, and master's degrees in fields like Education, Media Arts, Computers, Health, and more.  Check it out, you'll be impressed!

*  If you're looking for some great English Courses in the UK, be sure to take a look at the University of Winchester.
